Your Profile Won't Fill Your Booking Page
I received an email today from a slightly popular marketer in the pet space. Which led with a line of…
Stop listening to so-called marketers who are telling you to post images of your dogs to bring in more business.
Something along those lines, anyhow — give or take.
She continued to explain how doing this alone won't make a jot of difference if your profile isn't set up properly.
This was aimed at those using Instagram, of course.
Her explanation of being set up properly, without going into too much detail on the specifics, makes me pretty sure she was referring to having a clear statement of what problem you solve. For example, a clear profile picture of your face, a clear CTA, visible links to your website and booking page, and using relevant hashtags and keywords so the right people can actually find you.
All good advice, of course.
And to be fair, she is correct about this to an extent, but I disagree with the part where she says to stop listening to people who tell you to post images of your dogs.
That's actually proof of your expertise, and it works well.
I got the feeling from the email that it was suggesting you shouldn't ever do this, when, of course, you should be posting images of your dogs — before-and-after grooming or training progress shots.
Yes, of course, have your profile set up correctly, but also do the dog posting, and a lot more if you want more exposure.
I mean, I literally give away for free, for subscribers of the Pooch Profits newsletter over 50 different ways to drive more traffic and get more clients on my website.
Because the truth is…just having a nice profile won't move mountains either.
The profile is just the basics that every dog business owner should have when using social media.
So if you're guilty of not doing this, get that sorted first.
But then think outside the box, focus on three methods and set a plan. Put it in a scheduling app if it helps.
Think differently and remember that you need to stand out in a crowded place to get noticed on Instgram.
Maybe make your images better and use editing software to make them pop. Add a caption that tells a story, not just a pretty picture with a name tag slapped on it...
...Moreover, boost the posts that have traction, and above all else, make sure you're targeting locally, especially if you're offering a service.
Being visible for those you want to serve is the path to follow.
And talking of being visible, and a path to follow, maybe check out my dog visibility guide while it's still ridiculously priced low.
Because this will do more than having a nice profile.
