The Dog Business Side Hustle System (Part Three)
Right, we've made it to part three.
In part one, I walked you through the system itself. In part two, I covered Instagram as a free traffic method to build your breed-specific email list. If you haven't read those yet, go back and start there.
Today, it's about paid traffic. Specifically, Meta ads.
Before you scroll off, hear me out. This doesn't have to be expensive, and it doesn't have to be complicated.
However, only think about doing this if you have the funds to. It's not required, and you can use free methods to build your email list if needed.
With that said...
Here's Why Meta Ads Work Well For This
Meta ads (Facebook and Instagram together) are genuinely one of the most effective ways to grow an email list fast, and for a niche like this, they work particularly well.
Dog owners are all over Facebook. It's full of people who have just got a Cavapoo, Cockapoo, Labrador, or whatever breed, and have no idea what they're doing yet. They're scrolling looking for answers, and you can put your free cheat sheet directly in front of them.
A Few Free Tips To Get You Started
Keep your objective set to leads. You're not directly selling anything at this stage, you're building a list, so don't run a traffic campaign and hope for the best. You'll be selling in your emails and on thank you pages.
Use a simple image ad to start. A decent photo of your dog with a short headline works better than you'd think. Something like "Own a Cavapoo? Grab this free cheat sheet" is more than enough to get clicks.
You can still target by interest to an extent, but since the Andromeda update, the best approach is to let Meta do the heavy lifting. Don't target countries you don't want, but let Advantage+ handle most of the settings.
It's now all about the creative. Yes, have decent copy in your primary text, but make the image the main focus. Create three different versions and make sure each one is formatted for different sizes. You can use AI to generate images or use your own photos with text overlays.
Side note: it's actually recommended to have a lot more creatives per campaign now, but for starting off and small budget, just stick to three and scale when needed.
A good tip: visit Meta Ad Library, search for ads in your dog breed niche, and take ideas from what you find. If an ad has been running for a while, it's likely working. Model it.
Start small. Ten pounds a day is enough to test whether your landing page and offer convert. If people are signing up and buying, scale it up. If not, tweak the landing page, the email, or the ad before spending more.
One small thing worth knowing: Android users see ads slightly differently to iPhone users in the Meta app, so preview your ads on both before publishing.
That's the basics. Meta ads are not magic, but when your landing page is set up properly and your free offer is genuinely useful, the ads do the hard work. I was getting leads for around $1, which for paid ads in 2026 is solid.
You can use this as a quick boost to build up your email list.
But please be responsible!
