Fathers Day & Business Community
I’m writing this just before heading into town for a Father’s Day drink with my dad, brother, son, nephews, in-laws, and a few others for our annual get together where a group of dads get let loose for a few hours.
The sun’s out, sky is blue, and I know exactly how this will go.
A few drinks in, we’ll be talking nonsense, laughing, and forgetting about everything else for a while.
And that’s the point.
Time with friends and family matters, even for just a few hours means you can switch off from the noise, stress, and the constant to-do list.
There’s a lesson in that for business, too.
Some of the most successful companies in recent years didn’t just sell a product—they built a community around it.
Peloton is a great example. When the CEO doubled down on creating a sense of community among users, profits jumped by 20%.
Why? Because people value connection. It’s human nature and great ideas and sparks of creativity come from simply having conversations.
I can guarantee that I will have a great idea for my business (in some way) that will come from today.
And the same applies to your dog business.
Focusing on just customers is fine, but if you build a community in some way, that's when the real shift can happen.
That could be a Facebook group. A Skool community. A space where clients can ask questions, share photos, and feel part of something.
It works for groomers, trainers, product brands, and any dog related business really.
A small example of building community is by me answering subscriber questions and sharing them on here.
This can help us all.
And of you have one, whether small or big, just reply to this email. I’ll answer you directly, and I will feature them in future newsletter.
If you're smart you can make this work directly for your business too.
Anyway, enjoy your day, and if you’re a father, happy Father’s Day.
